Course Overview:
Asbestos is the largest single cause of occupational ill health, not just in the UK but throughout the world. In the UK alone there are over 4500 asbestos related deaths every year. This course is aimed at those who come across asbestos materials in their roles, or who work in buildings where asbestos is present.
Course Objectives
To learn what asbestos is, and the different types that exist
To learn why it is dangerous and about the different health problems it can cause
To understand the different pieces of legislation related to exposure to asbestos in the workplace
To learn what to do if you are about to carry out any work on a site where asbestos may be present and what to do if you come across something that you suspect contains asbestos
